Hey Guys…

Todays question comes from Geroge who has his own product ready-to-roll.

Hi John,

I wanted to start a list with a JV of one of my information products, however I don’t know where to start. I’ve already created the information product and have already did a small launch on the warrior forums and had a conversion rate of around 12%.

What I want to know is where should I start asking? Who should I ask first to do a JV with me?

Additionally, do you think that a 50% commission and one hundred 300 words of custom created articles enough of an incentive?

Thanks,
George

Hi George,

First of all it’s great that you’ve created your own product! Most Internet marketers don’t make it this far. There’s nothing shoddy about a 12% conversion rate so well done there. The warrior forum is a great place to test your products and they will soon tell you if it’s not up to scratch.

There are a number of ways to approach this. If you don’t have you don’t have your own list then you are a little more limited as you aren’t able to offer recipricol JV’s. But there’s other things you can do.

First of all if you haven’t already then you need to go and sign up with JV-Notify-PRO. This is run by Mike Merz and it’s where ALL the top JV’s hang out. If you’ve ever wondered how JV’s get to know about all these products before the release date then this is where it’s at. BUT – Don’t just sign-up and expect Mike to do a mailing for you. You’ll need to get yourself known and get involved but it will be worth the effort. After you’ve established yourself then you can ask Mike to mail out for you and he will send a request to all the JV’s out there.

You can also have a look at successful WSO’s and work out from there, which Warriors have their own list. If it’s in your niche then send them a friendly message and perhaps offer them a special commission rate.

Honestly, I’m not sure if JV’s will go for the article deal. It’s a GREAT offer but I’ve not seen it before. JV’s generally look for cash incentives, recipricol mailings etc. Try it and see what happens.

Also, I strongly suggest you have 2 other things in place before you go ahead with this…

Number 1 – A backend sale. It’s always a good idea to offer a backend sale with a higher price point, (especially with low ticket items) when you’re relying on JV’s. 50% is a good offer but 50% of a backend sale as well will help generate more interest.

Number 2 – Now you’ve got this far I strongly suggest you start building your own list. I am not really a big list guru and I don’t promote hundreds of products, my list is more a labor of love than a cash cow. But all the top guys earn around $1 per subscriber per month from their lists. My own experience tells me that the best way to start building your list is to create something that’s high-quality and can be given away for free. When people subscribe to my list they get a report that details how to earn money with Adsense. You could do something similar that’s closely related to your own product.

Advertise your free offer on the warrior forum as a WSO and then once you have a small list you open up other doors. You can start to do ad-swaps to build your list and that will put you in a much stronger position for future promotions.

If your product is good and you treat your subscribers well then you have a recipe for success.

You may know that I had some personal coaching from guru Chris Freville. One piece of advice he kept hammering home was How do you eat an elephant? – One bit at a time! – What I mean by this is don’t expect to get the attention of the big guys. These dudes have their promotions planned months in advance and getting them to promote for you is virtually impossible until your known in the field.

Finally, Just get out there and connect with people. Use Facebook, Twitter etc and get to know people. This is how almost all guru’s make it big. They leverage success from others. Don’t just email people asking for JV’s. Get to know them, offer to help them or ask if you can get involved. If you’re friends with sombody they are far more likely to want to help you out.

Good luck George!

Stay focussed and I hope 2010 is a happy and prosperous year.

Regards,

John.
