What The Hell is A.S.L

Today I want to tell you about 3 letters that could change your Internet Marketing Dreams.
Â
 A - S - L
Â
A.S.L is my own little anacronym that I teach to all my students. It’s a very simple concept and kind of a mindset. You don’t have to do anythying to make this work – Just remember it.
- It WILL save you thousands of dollars but..  More importantly,
- It WILL Â save you months or even years of wasted effort.
All you have to do is think of it next time you look at a a salespage.
A.S.L Stands for 3 words.
-Achievable
-Scalable
-Longetivety
Â
This is some real core advice that you really need to remember next time you’re reading a salespage or watching the latest promotional video.
Before you get too excited with the promises in the salescopy just stop and give it a mental checklist of A.S.L.
- Is what you see ACHIEVABLE for YOU?
- Is It Scalable? – Can you leverage it and build on it or is it just a one-time thing?
- Does it have Longetivety? – Will it last or will it be useless in a few weeks time? (If it’s a short-term gain then you have to be sure you’ll get your money’s worth.
You see, even if a product is great for some people, it may be awful for others. That’s why you see such differing opinions, (just because I like a product, it doesn’t mean you will).
What’s achievable and scalable for one person, may not be for another.
Example: If a product isn’t newbie friendly it may not be achievable for newbies but it could be great for those who know how to use it.
Marketing is my business – So from time to time I will invite you to look at a product if I think it’s really worthwhile, (I do have strict criteria for this). But EVEN THEN I want you to stop, think, and really decide if it’s right for you before you hand over that credit card number.
NO – I’m NOT Joking! I don’t want you to buy anything EVEN through ME unless it’s actually going to help you achieve your goals. Here’s an example – I’ve been a Linkvana member since it opened. It’s a great service, it works, and i’d recommend it to anybody. BUT – if you’re just starting out and you’ve never built a website then the $147 price tag is probably not worth your investment, So my advice would be to wait until your online income is exceeding that price-tag and can pay for itself.
Anyway – I just wanted to ignore the hype today and keep you on your toes. It can be very easy to lose a lot of money quickly in this game unless you stop and think before being seduced into parting with you cash.
Let me ask you something -
How many products have you bought this year?
Now how many of them failed to make you money?
One more question – How many of them did you actually use to the FULL? What I mean is, did really give the product your all and follow it through to the end? A.S.L can only ever work if you see it through, Stop chasing pipe dreams. When you do find a good product stick with it and see it through. Only then will you really see it’s full potential.
As always I read all your comments so please get involved and ask anything you like.
To your Future Success,
 John.
By the way – If you haven’t already please check out this video – It’s not mine but I love it and it!

Hi John,
As always, you have some great advice. One thing I would also add in my experience is that you also have to think – IS This workable for me Right Now in my business.
The product could be fantastic and it could be just what you need, but if might not be right you need right NOW. If you are not able to work it right now then you are most likely going to be wasting your money and it will hurt you more than help you because you will be spending time on it when you should be focused on your current marketing and projects and they will suffer and in the end and you will be running around trying to catch your tail and not know why you are not being successful.
Love, you stuff John, keep it coming.

Hey Carlton,
Damn – You’ve stolen my next blog post (lol).
Seriously, Carlton is absolutely spot-on!
I know we’ve all been guilty (including me) of buying products that may well have been brilliant but have falied to utilize them.
As Carlton hints – this is one of the biggest reasons for failure in IM. There are only so many hours in the day and we all have other commitments on our time. We are often too quick to blame failure on the products we buy but (although there are some real poor ones out there too) part of the blame has to lie with us.
If you do buy a product then you need to give it your all. If it doesn’t fit in with what you’re doing right now then leave it! Or if it’s really irresistable then make sure you schedule time in to make sure you actually use it.
SIDE NOTE:
I’m not doing myself any favours here – But just because I email you saying “Hey – Go check this out it’s amazing” it’s really up to you to decide if it fits in with your business model right now. We as marketers (this includes you) ultimately earn our living through advertising other peoples products and services. It doesn’t matter whether you’re working on Adsense, Affiliate marketing, List building, PPC – It all boils down to advertising and that’s what Internet Marketing is. The important thing (from my point of view) is that I provide value along the way.
In my next post I have something that I hope will really help you. I’m going to tell you all the tools and services I personally use Right Now – I’ll also (in posts to follow) give you some real evidence of exactly how they helped me.
Hopefully this will show you how A.S.L can really work for you.
Thanks for the great post Carlton,
John.
