Today I want to talk to you about exploring other areas of revenue for your websites. In an earlier post I talked about the Google BAN and how Google are cracking down on sites that are MFA (Made For Adsense). In that post I gave you a few ideas on how to add extra dimensions to your websites without reducing your CTR% (ClickThrough Rate).

Well 1 comment from avenuegirl  inspired me to go into a little more detail about this. First of all, if Google DO suspend your account then she is quite right. 1st – You are NOT alone. 2nd – YES there are plenty of other ways to monetise your websites and indeed entirely different ways of making money online.

I have already shown you some “quick-fix” ways you can avoid this (see original Adsense Banned post) but now I want to show you how you can actually increase revenue by around 30% by adding other offers to your site. For those of you that have seen the salespage to (shameless plug) Adsense Fortress, you’ll know that I actually increased my revenue by around 30% with this technique.

How? – I simply added a couple of relevant offers to my website with my embedded affiliate link.

When I say relevant, I mean really relevant and that’s the key to making this work.

This can take a little time and effort, especially if you have a large number of sites, but it is worth it. You need to make sure that your offer is precisely targetted to the keyword(s) that visitors are using to find you website. Go to your CPanel, check your stats and find out just how visitors are finding you.

This way you’ll know exactly what their looking for and you can hit them with an offer to match. This is what makes it irrisistable. If you can’t find an offer that matches, then either you are very unlucky or you didn’t do your niche research carefully enough. 

So just where do you find these affiliate offers?

Well there are countless places and a quick google search will uncover many of them. But be careful. Make sure you check out what other affiliates have to say before you dive in. Some may not track your stats properly meaning you won’t always be credited for a sale when you should. Some are simply rogue and won’t pay at all.

Here’s a few that are known to be reputable and aren’t too difficult to join.

• ClickBank– Biggest network and highest payout for digital/downloadable products.
• affiliatescout – Full searchable directory of affiliate programs for just about any niche.
• Affiliatebot – all types of physical products and services.
• Hydra network – high performing and popular affiliate program.
• CPArev – has top advertisers on board including household names such as blockbuster videos.
• Maxbounty – This programs pays on performance (leads).
• Commision Junction – Big in the IM community, well respected – big choice of programs.
• Linkshare – Lot’s of big names on board including McAfee, Itunes, At&T to name but a few.

By signing up with some of the above you can virtually guarantee that you’ll be able to find an offer that matches your content and keywords completely. So this is a win-win situation. You can help satisfy any human reviewer on Google that you site is legit, it offers diversity to the reader, but you can also increase your revenue at the same time.

Just remember to do this for each page on your site. Yes it’s time-consuming, Yes it may even be a little boring, but It’s well worth doing if you do it right.

Later on i’ll we’ll be looking at entirely different ways to earn money online including setting up sites that are targetted towards affiliate offers like the ones above. We’ll also be looking at how leverage your Adsense sites to build a list of potential buyers.

I love Adsense as most of you know, but if your serious about the whole online thing then it’s VERY important to make sure you get out of your comfort zone and have multiple streams of income coming in. You never know when 1 might dry-up.

It seems that in the last few months more and more Adsense publishers are finding that there Adsense account has been banned/removed/deleted. So I hope that I can help YOU before it’s too late.

So what’s going on? What’s the story? Why is this happening?

An online friend of mine recently emailed me asking for advice as his ads were no longer displaying on his websites. A couple of days later he received that dreaded email from Google telling him his account had been suspended. After taking a look at some of his sites I could see no obvious reason of policy violation.

So why did Google give him the boot?

It seems they are having a BIG crackdown on MFA (Made For Adsense) sites. It used to be fine to have a site with Adsense ads as long as the site contained good quality content. This is no longer enough. You now have to show that your site has some purpose other than for displaying Adsense ads.

Fortunately this is easily remedied, but if you have a large number of sites it can take some time. So what’s the solution? Well there are a number of options but I have chosen some below that should have a minimal effect on your CTR%.

1. Most Adsense publishers use www.ezinearticles.com and they have a great little widget that let’s you display links to other relevant articles on their site. You can just copy and paste a small piece of code whereever you want the widget to appear.
2. By registering with Amazon as an affiliate you can select one of many banners to add to your site. One of these will actually look at your content and try to display relevant ads. It’s not that clever and in my experience the ads aren’t always particularly well targetted but that doesn’t matter too much. Again, it’s just a small piece of code you can copy and paste.
3. This had to be in here. We all know about www.ClickBank.com , but there are many other affiliate options out there such as www.CommissionJunction.com, and www.PayDotCom.com and you can usually find an offer that’s closely related to your niche.

I could go on but you get the idea. Go out and find something for your sites that gives the visitor other options, rather than just Adsense.

It doesn’t have to be an advertisement at all. It could be shoutbox, or some other kind of widget.

If you’re relatively new to adsense then it’s important you do keep up-to-date with all the Policies and T.O.S as Google like to keep publishers on their toes. In the last couple of years there have been a number of changes including:

• Privacy Policy – You are now required to have a privacy policy on every adsense site
• Double-Dart Cookie – You must include in your policy an explanatio nof the use of the cookie Google uses to serve relevant ads.
• Images and Ad’s – You cannot display images that could in anyway make a visitor believe they are related to the advertisement.

There are others but these are the big 3 that really stand out.

Personally i’d be a little happier if they were better at keeping publishers informed and actually gave us a way of contacting them when we need information or clarification. There are so many grey areas and everyone interpretes  the rules differently.
